The story of Panathinaikos is inextricably tied to the forefront in Greek football and with the top successes in Europe. The titles are countless and the discriminations are unique, like that of the Champions League final. The unbeaten Greek championship, the semi-finals in Champions League, the biggest records in season tickets, are all Green. Our athletes with clover in chest, will always remind the stubbornness of Giorgos Kalafatis the founder of Panathinaikos back in 1908, when football was unknown word for most of the people in Greece. Since then, the club became one with history, sports and culture of the capital of Greece. Since the “great war” where the team was playing sporadically with coalition forces till the end of the Occupation when for the first time the Greek flag was raised at the stadium of Leoforos as a symbol of freedom, Panathinaikos was an integral part of Athenian society. Together in joys and sorrows. Together in every season, with its own requirements. The historical responsibility still remains and it is an obvious need for Panathinaikos to participate in any activity which aims to support our citizens and enhancing social balance.
