He was born in Hagen, Germany. He started the football career from the local team of Pangeo and was transfered to the team of Kavala in October 1994. He made his first appearance in A Ethniki at the home defeat of Kavala (1-5) against Panathinaikos. During his first season in A National he competed in 17 games with 3 goals, while his team finished at the last position of the league table. The following year he was one of the key players who led the Cavaliers back to the big category (26 innings \/ 5 goals), while in the 1996-97 period he played until December 1996 in 10 games scoring twice. In January 1997 Sfakianakis made the big step in his career, managing to transfer to Olympiacos, being the personal choice of the coach of the red, Dusan Bajevic. In his first year in the team of Piraeus he had 7 innings and 1 goal and celebrated his first championship, that was also the first for Olympiacos since 1987. In the period 1997-98 he took part in just two games and in the next year he had 10 appearances and 2 goals. During his 3.5 years of presence in Olympiakos, Sfakianakis played in 21 league matches scoring 3 times. He also celebrated four consecutive championships as well as the Greek Cup in 1999. His next team was Skoda Xanthi, where he was transfered with his teammate to Olympiakos, Savvas Poursaitidis. He stayed there for four years and played 72 championship matches, scoring 3 times. His top moment in the Thracians was the goal of the equalizer that achieved an away match draw against Olympiacos in 2002-03 (1-1). After Skoda Xanthi, he had a short pass to Cyprus in the 2003-04 season for Olympiakos Nicosia, and in the summer of 2004 he was repatriated on behalf of OFI. During his four-year presence at OFI, he was one of the club&#8217;s top players, counting 92 appearances and 16 goals in championship matches. His best year for the Cretans was that of the 2007-08 season, where he found himself in excellent shape and scored 8 goals in 23 games, becoming the top scorer of the team for that season. In the summer of 2009, after the downgrading of OFI to Second National league, he left the team of Heraklion. On July 1, 2009, he was transfered to Atromitos with a two-year contract. In his first year at Atromitos he played 22 games and scored 2 goals. With the Peristeri team, he reached two Greek Cup finals in 2011 and 2012. His contract was renewed in 2011 for one year and ended in the summer of 2012. In 2012 he came to an agreement with Panetolikos where he stayed until 2014 when and ended his career.
