Dimitris Salpiggidis was born on the 18th of August 1981 in Thessaloniki. He began his career in Asteras Ampelokipon and continued in Larisa, Kavala, PAOK, Panathinaikos and since 2010 PAOK again until the summer of 2015, when he ended his contract. More over, he was a basic member of the National team from 2005 till 2015, where he held the title of the team leader. He is the first player of the National team to score in the final phase of the World Cup and the first Greek player to score in the final phase not only of the World Cup, but of the European Championship as well. In addition to this, he is the first scorer of the Greek clubs participating in interclub competitions, having scored 30 goals. As far as his personal record is concerned, 200 goals are his 200 reasons of being proud. Dimitris is not only a great scorer but a great character as well. He is always willing to help the people that need help, displaying greatness and altruism.
