Andreas Samaris was born on the 13th of June 1989 in Athens, and made his football debut at a really young age with PAO Vardas football team in Ileia. He signed his first professional contract with Panachaiki F.C. on the 10th of April 2007. In January 2010, Andreas signed a 4,5 years contract with F.C. Panionios and in the summer of 2012 he was transferred to the leading Greek club Olympiakos Piraeus. While playing for Olympiakos, he performed excellent appearances both in the Greek Super League and in the Champions League, leading to attracting interest from renown football clubs in Europe. Benfica of Portugal managed to sign him, following a 10 million Euros offer in August 2014 (the second highest football transfer for a Greek footballer at that time). The release clause in his contract imposed by F.C. Benfica, reached the amount of 45 million Euros. Andreas has already a remarkable career playing for the Greek National side. He gained his first National Cap with U-21 side, during the Qualifiers for the U21 Euro Tournament in Luxembourg in August 2007. In October 2013 he was called upon by the coach Fernando Santos in the Greek National Side and on the 15th of October 2013 he made his debut against Lichtenstein, for World Cup 2014 qualifiers. He was also a member of the Greek National Side participating in the World Cup 2014 in Brasil, and he scored the first goal against Ivory Coast at the final game of the Group Stage. This goal essentially led to the Greek National side progressing through to the next stage of the tournament. Since then, Andreas is a permanent feature in the center of the Greek National side.
