Giannis Goumas was born in Ambelonas Larissa on May 24, 1975 and he is a Greek former international footballer and current coach. Ampeloniakos was the team in which he started his football career and at a young age he stood out for his performance in the team’s offensive line. His very good appearances attracted AEK and Panathinaikos, with the second winning the battle of his acquisition in the summer of 1994. On 15 April 1995 he made his debut against Levadiakos. In Panathinaikos he was established in the position of the central defender, by the coach Vassilis Daniil. However, he often gave solutions to scoring because of his previous experience as a striker. At Panathinaikos he scored 38 times in total. His main characteristics as a football player were his fabulous play, his frivolity, frequent contact with rival nets, and the fact that throughout his professional career he remained in Panathinaikos. In the summer of 2009 his contract with Panathinaikos was terminated and he finished his career as he was not included in the plans of coach Henk Ten Kate. His debut with Greece national team took place on February 3, 1999 in the friendly match against Finland (2-1), held in Cyprus. His most important moment with Greece was his participation in the team’s squad for the final stage of the Euro 2004 event, where he was a European champion. He was in the squad of Greece for Euro 2008. With the blue-white shirt he competed for a decade (1999-2008) with a total of 45 participations. He was also a member of the U21 that took part in the 1998 European Championship Final, against Spain. In May 2012 he began his coaching career by taking over the technical leadership of Glyfada. In September 2013 he became the first coach in Pefki. In October 2013 he agreed to continue as an assistant coach at Skoda Xanthi, where he left in June 2014. In December 2014 he took over the technical leadership of the National Youth (U-19). <\/p>\n
