Orestis Karnezis was born in Athens on the 11th of July 1985, but was raised in Corfu. He began his career playing for the local sides in Corfu, until the age of 16, when he was transferred to OFI Crete. Due to his youth, he did not play immediately, but he played for two years for OFI Crete B\u2019 team which was participating in the League 4 and also played for one year for the youth team of Ofi Crete. He was promoted to the first team of OFI Crete in 2005 and remained with OFI until 2007. He was the second goalkeeper behind Michalis Sifakis at that time. His performances with the U-21 Greek National side though, attracted the interest of the major Greek club Panathinaikos FC, and Orestis was transferred to Panathinaikos FC in 2007. He was established as the main goalkeeper of Panathinaikos FC. In July 2013 he signed for the Italian side Udinese Calcio for the amount of 750,000 euros. In his contract it was agreed that he shall be loaned to the Spanish FC Granada, where he spent one season playing in Spanish La Liga and the next season (2014\/2015) he returned to Udinese Calcio where he plays until today. Orestis has participated in all National Greek sides (U-16, U-19, U-21). He performed his debut with Greek National side U-21 on August 18, 2004 during a friendly match against Czech Republic. He was featured in the lineup at the Mediterranean Games of 2005, in Almeria Spain. On February 29, 2012 he made his debut with the Greek National side in a friendly match against Belgium and he was the main goalkeeper during the World Cup 2014, whereas he palyed in all 4 games. Today, he is the most reliable option for the position of goalkeeping for the Greek National side. Orestis,as a person, is characterized by social awareness, and he gladly responded to our call.
