Dimitris Verginis was born on the 15th of May 1987 and currently plays for Apollon Patras. He is 1.92 m (6 ft 3) tall. He can play both the point guard and shooting guard positions. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, Verginis started his career playing with the Asteria Panoramatos junior team, and then with the senior team of Anatolia in the 2004\u201305 season. He debuted in the Greek League and the EuroChallenge in the 2005\u201306 season with PAOK. In the 2006\u201307 season, he played in the Eurocup for the first time. He was selected for the EuroChallenge All-Star Game in the 2007\u201308 season. Verginis was the youngest ever player to be named the team captain in the history of PAOK, when he took over that role from Kostas Vasileiadis. In 2008, he left PAOK and joined Panathinaikos. Verginis stayed with Panathinaikos for 2 years, where he won the triple crown in 2009 (Greek Championship and Cup and Euroleague) ang the Greek Championship in the next year. In 2010, he signed with Aris, where he played until June 2012. He then signed with Bilbao Basket in June 2012, and stayed with them through the preseason. He then returned to Aris for the 2012\u201313 season. After that, he moved to Lukoil Academic for the 2013\u201314 season, and Panionios for the 2014\u201315 season. In the summer of 2015 he moved to Apollon Patras where he is playing up to now. Verginis played with several of the Greek junior national teams. He played at 2003 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship, both the 2004 and 2005 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championships, and both the 2006 and 2007 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championships
