Panachaiki 1891 FC, is a Greek football club based in the city of Patras. It was established as the football section of the Panachaiki Gymnastics Union (PGA) in 1899, eight years after the founding of the sports club. Panachaiki is one of the most historic teams in the country and the first provincial club that managed and played in a European competition, winning its participation in the UEFA Cup of 1973-74, by winning the 4th place in the Championship of the First National Division (1972-1973). It is often called by its fans and also generally across the Greek territory as ” The Grand Lady of the Peloponnese”. In the 2016-2017 season, fifteen city entrepreneurs create the “Panachaic Alliance” in order to take over the reins of the club and start efforts to clear the debts from previous team administrations and bring it back to the first division. From the position of Technical Director, the European champion with the 2004 National Team and former footballer Kostas Katsouranis toke over the organization of the football section. The team is crowned champions the same year and returned to the professional categories of the country.
