Desmos is a non-profit foundation with the mission is to best manage and utilize surplus goods and pro bono services from companies and individuals in order to help cover documented needs of social welfare providers in Greece. Desmos works to simplify and expedite the giving process for the donor in terms of research, logistics, ensuring transparency and encouraging the involvement of the private sector in charitable activities. Desmos continuously communicates with social welfare providers in Greece, in order to accurately document their emergency and long-term needs in resources and infrastructure. In tandem, Desmos communicates with individuals and companies to actively secure donations from individuals and companies in surplus products; Desmos daily collects, sorts and distributes these donations to organizations according to need, ultimately matching each donation to an appropriate destination. To make the donation process easier and more efficient, Desmos has created Desmos Direct – www.desmosdirect.org, a valuable digital tool that fundamentally innovates the giving process by “automatically matching” goods and services offered by individuals and companies with the needs of social welfare organizations. Donors and organizations post their donations and needs respectively and when a match occurs, Desmos Direct automatically notifies both the donor and receiving organization and directs the parties to complete the transaction.
